All Fun & Play – An Excursion For The Brindavan Tent School Students!

All Fun & Play – An Excursion For The Brindavan Tent School Students!

A few weeks ago, the Grand Mercure Hotel was kind enough to recognize the efforts of our co-founder, Jaideep Rao. Not only was it an amazing and affirming experience, but we also realised that the people behind the award were wonderful people – making the accolade doubly meaningful!

Jaideep and Pranita both visited the hotel to receive the award and had a lovely evening with the organizers and their fellow honorees (some of whom you will read about soon!). And after they chatted to the staff at the hotel, we found ourselves plotting some holiday cheer – an outing for the students of the Brindavan Tent School!

The Best Laid Plans

When the staff at the Grand Mercure hotel approached us about doing something for the students at BTS, we were ecstatic. After taking the students to the airport, we knew we had to come up with something extraordinary to follow it. So, when the opportunity occurred for the students to visit the hotel and spend the day playing games and generally enjoying themselves – we had to make it happen!

So, we kick-started the day with a bus ride. The kids had a blast watching Bangalore whizz by as we headed to the hotel in Koramangala. None of them had ever visited a hotel before so the whole experience was a totally new one.

A Delicious Start

Not only did our hosts greet us with cool drinks and some yummy snacks, but we were seated by the swimming pool – another first time for the kids. They were completely enthralled by the concept, and we barely managed to stop them from diving in! We won’t deny that there may have been some toe dipping involved – oops!

Once we finished our food, it was time for some artistic fun. Each of the kids was given a sheet of paper and some crayons to create their own masterpieces. The winner would be awarded a small prize. Thanks to Volunesia, we already knew we had some pint-sized Picassos in the group. From gorgeous houses and sunsets to Chota Bheems and airplanes – there were a variety of amazing drawings to choose from. Santosh and Krishna won the first and second prizes respectively for their efforts, and we couldn’t’ be more proud of their creativity.

With The Beat

After showcasing their artistic talents, it was time for some serious play! The kids lined up for an energetic game of musical chairs. Bhavani emerged as the winner, narrowly beating out her opponents.

Fun and games!

Once we had wrapped up the games, it was time for lunch. What a spread! There was so much food that we were as overwhelmed as the kids! From pani puri to ice cream – we had something for everyone. The highlight of the meal was the live dosa counter. The kids were glued to it – they were so fascinated by the whole process and, of course, the delicious dosas they got out of it.

It’s A Wrap!

After a small prize distribution ceremony, it was time to say goodbye. We took some amazing photos by the pool, and said farewell to the truly lovely staff of the Grand Mercure Hotel.

Not only did they organize this day of fun, but they devoted their day to making our kids feel welcome and cherished. We really couldn’t have asked for a better day out. Not only did the kids have a wonderful time, but we’re sure that we’ve helped them create memories that they will talk about for years to come. There’s no better feeling than that! As Jaideep often says – that’s our true currency, and right now we’re very rich people!
