KnowYourStar.com Journey: Pranita Bhat
Like everybody else, a year back, I joined the herd when I decided to take my job in IT. With a different passion at heart, I reluctantly pursued a stream I derived no happiness from. I believe one cannot give his 100% without being happy at what he does. Sulking and directionless, I continued pursuing my passion as a hobby, with a hope that someday I will make a career out of it, putting my talents to good use.
Little did I know that as I was thinking this, there were a group of friends in another state hatching a plan that I would be asked to be a part of in a few days. Which would give an all new direction to my life. My dreams were being hatched in another mind. I received a text from JD which said – “I have an offer for you that you cannot resist. Call you tonight!”
Curiosity took toll on me, as I bugged him to tell me what it is. But Mr.I-am-never-in-a-hurry-and-always-cool took his own sweet time in revealing the plan to me. And one phone call later, my directionless mind chose one path – KnowYourStar. Call it instinct, call it sixth sense – not knowing where exactly this journey would lead, what exactly the destination was, I tagged along because it just felt right… It felt great!
The decision of the KYS launching date was an epic day! After our convocation, I sat on the shore of Malpe beach with my friends including JD and Kiran Sir. I had this thought that we should release our site on the 13th of November, because my instinct screamed that it would be lucky. But knowing people find that number unlucky, I debated putting it on the table. But just minutes later, JD mouths my words and the exhilarating feeling right then is beyond words! It was just meant to be.
From coming up with the tagline to the content for the pages, from proof-reading interviews to taking my very first interview, from coming up with ideas to promote DWAR to designing posters, teasers, albums… the journey in KYS has been so amazing. The thoughts, the ideas, the discussions, the brain-storming, the planning, the execution – it’s all such a thrill. Most importantly, the learning! There is so much to learn from the stars we interview. For me, the whole KYS journey has been such a beautiful learning experience. Talk to someone, learn. Plan something, learn. Make mistakes, learn. Succeed with flying colors, learn.
With Team KnowYourStar being based in Bangalore, I was the only one away in Pune. And every time we came up with something new to implement, how I wished I was with them. I missed out on a lot of action. I was a part of it virtually, but the excitement of being involved in person always haunted me. With every new team meeting held, and every new plan implemented, my restlessness increased till I decided to take a break from my job and shift to Bangalore permanently!
With KnowYourStar, my stars finally aligned themselves for me! It has given me the courage to change my stream and start a career in the field I’m passionate about. It has given me a purpose in life. It has made me more susceptible towards my duties to the society I live in. It has made me prone to the struggles of people. It has made me more understanding towards the plight of our country. And most importantly, I can see my dreams grow wings and fly. It has brought me happiness, joy and satisfaction that even a high-paying job did not get me. Knowing my star has been a journey of knowing myself for me!
