Snapshot Stories – Pictures Are Worth A Thousand Words

“Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you’ll look back and realise they were the big things.” – Kurt Vonnegut

Like we always say, what makes Volunesia such a beautiful experience is a string of many many small things, filled with love, affection and kindness. Here are some beautiful photos, which signify much more than what we can express in words.

Santosh was walking by our Volunesia setup with his two lovely daughters – Aditi and Niyati, when he stopped by to ask us what we were up to! In spite of being in a rush to be elsewhere, he decided to spend some time with us.

While his daughters unleashed their creativity, Santosh was quick to express that he is not an artsy person, but would love to help in some way. He ended up covering many a books very very neatly, which were used by others to paint on!

Binita came rushing to Volunesia one Saturday, because she was running late. She had already researched on what she wanted to make that day and couldn’t wait to begin. She had some breakfast packed with her, but thought it could wait. But Nandini didn’t think so!

Nandini started feeding Binita with her own hands, while Binita continued creating art! The moment was so heart-warming, all of us took a moment to admire this before we pounced on whatever little food that remained!

Praveen Uncle and Pooja Aunty are our very own Chief Everything Officer – Pranita’s parents, who have just moved to Bangalore. This was their first Volunesia experience and they came over just to offer their presence. They said they had not touched colors or put their pen to paper in ages and were not sure how they can contribute!

But they couldn’t escape the Volunesia bug when our volunteers handed them charts, sketch pens and gave them simple ideas about what to do.

Enabled by this support, they created some beautiful goodies with all their heart. Before leaving, Praveen Uncle was bursting with new ideas, which he excitedly said he would implement next time, while Pooja Aunty offered to do more bookmarks and other things in her free time from home.

Sarala Ma’am is the one-woman army who manages the Brindavan Tent School that we have adopted. When this initiative was featured on the Bangalore Mirror, we took the newspaper to school to show her.

Sarala Ma’am was so happy her school was getting some recognition, she went around showing the paper to each and every child in the class, giving them enough time to see the pictures and identify the kids featured on it. This moment alone was enough to validate the efforts we are putting in the school.

Nandini‘s birthday fell on a weekend this month, which is why we couldn’t meet her on her special day. We missed celebrating the happy occasion. But after our last Volunesia in Tent School, after completing a beautiful circle with our volunteers, Manu had a special announcement to make!

Manu had a small cake for the birthday girl. While Nandini blew the candle and made a wish, all of us were curious about how she is going to cut enough slices for all of us!!! While the fun and frolic continued over the cake, Team KYS said a silent thanks to the universe, to have volunteers who we have just met, but already treat us like their own family. We were touched! 🙂

That’s all from our collection for this week, more short and sweet observations through lovely pictures next week. We have our next Volunesia coming up tomorrow, i.e. 1st July, 2017. You can register here and join us to create more magical moments together. 🙂
