Thursday Email – And The Tent School Transformation Begins. Join us!

It’s been more than a month since we adopted Brindavan Tent School, and the school transformation process has been happening in ways we never imagined. From invisible hands contributing in beautiful little ways to volunteers stepping up and taking responsibility to make things happen, we are now not afraid to dream big! 🙂

The following activities have been planned for the school and we require your support in whatever way you can.

We are painting the school in August first week with all the amazing volunteers who have signed up for the same! We need help in sourcing things like paint brushes, ladders and other paint equipment. If you can put us in touch with someone in Bangalore who wouldn’t mind lending this to us for a day, we would be very grateful. Also, none of us are design experts. We have ideas on what we want to paint on the school walls, but if you know any field expert who can guide the volunteers, the connect would be appreciated!

2. Fixing the floor

The floor of the school is completely uneven and cracked, which has resulted in many injuries for the kids. We are planning to fix it to create a conducive atmosphere for the kids to study and feel alive without having to worry about getting hurt all the time.

3. Fix the playground area

We plan to fix the space behind the school to be used as play area for kids, where there is currently water stagnation problems. Also, the area is not leveled, which restricts the kids from making use of it.

4. Fix the toilets

The toilets are currently without access to water and light. The kids have to go out and bring water from a nearby pipe, and hence poses a lot of hygiene issues.

Two sets of uniforms for the students have been arranged by invisible hands and a Volunesian brought in her lovely friends to give away water bottles, lunch boxes and pencil boxes to each kid, which the kids are so happy about! With the basic necessities almost sorted, we are finally being able to get the students, teachers and parents to align towards focusing on the importance of education in their lives.
