Mentor India: Welcome to the World of Introduction

Mentor India: Welcome to the World of Introduction

As we drove 110 km to Chikkarasinkere on a mundane Saturday morning, we were anxious about the content we had prepared for the class 10 students of the Govt. Kannada Medium School, as a part of our Mentor India program. We wanted to open up a world of opportunities to these guys so that they could continue their education. The main challenge was to prepare them to swim successfully in a universal environment, where English was a life-jacket! We were ready for the tide, but what we encountered was not a tide. It was a tsunami! A tsunami of creativity. A tsunami of brilliance. A tsunami of love. The only thing this powerbox lacked was some good mentoring.

We chose “Welcome to the World of Introduction” to be the topic for Week 1, and in three hours, we were happy that we were successful in our mission. How did we do it? Watch the video below to get a glimpse of the methodologies we used and the learning we had! We focused on building their confidence and developing interpersonal skills, alongside motivating the students to learn to make an effective introduction, in English.

At the moment, we are not very sure whether our pilot phase of 6 Saturdays will give us enough time to achieve the mission of teaching spoken English alongside the personality development of these rural gems. We are sure you would have also realized the same after watching the video. There is a giant leap that needs to be taken, and we are seeking your support!

Anybody can support Mentor India. There is no age limit to being a volunteer or a supporter. Nor preferred categories or work experience, since our focus is on skill development. You don’t necessarily need to make time to Mentor India, you just need the heart. As a volunteer or supporter, we promise you that you will not just learn more about the needs of a young rural India, but help us to build the first open source content, which can be used to beautifully carve these brilliant young rural minds.

We have started getting support—thanks to the 2 donors who are celebrating their birthdays with us this month—which will help us to bear out 2 weeks’ expenses. For the upcoming weeks, we are rest assured that we will find supporters- like you! Thank you! {To invest on us- Please click here}.

Every penny that will come on our way will fund rural students from now on, and we are spending our weekends as teachers, our seva towards mentoring rural India.

Let the quote from Albert Einstein stand as a guiding light to all of us- “A hundred times every day, I remind myself that my inner and outer life depends on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the measure as I have received and am still receiving.”. You have an opportunity to exert yourself by being a part of Mentor India!
