Thursday Email – When Kids Do What They Love And Love What They Do, World Is A Better Place :)
Namaste!
– Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
A couple of days ago, KnowYourStar got published on Bangalore Mirror yet again, this time for a new tool we have developed as part of our Mentor India program, called Passion To Profession 1.0, which we developed with the help of three rockstar interns from MIT Manipal as part of their summer internship with us.
Passion to Profession (P2P) is an interactive tool that helps students identify their passions and aptitudes, and unlock their true potential. The tool helps them explore their future career options with the aid of kid-friendly stories of role models and educational road maps.
The integral idea is to shift the mindsets of children from ‘This Is Not For Me’ to ‘I Can And I Will’. Unlike their report cards, we use the tool to make students aware of their strengths and tell them what they can achieve by honing their skills rather than focusing on their weaknesses. We believe no one should judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, but by its ability to swim! 🙂
Team KYS is headed to Manipal tonight to participate in the National Conference on Youth in Social Change being held this weekend by Manipal University, which also happens to be Jaideep’s and my alumni. We look forward to this homecoming and are delighted to use this opportunity to officially launch the P2P tool.
Another big fat update for you all is that we are in the process of revamping our website with an intention to provide more clarity of the work we do and for ease of access. The work is 80% done and we aim to deliver the rest ASAP! If you encounter any difficulty in accessing older links, please get in touch with us. 🙂
