Thursday Email – Heart-Warming Ripples From Mentor India That Strengthen Our Mission :)

At KnowYourStar, we always say that we don’t want our organisation to last forever, because that will mean that we are preparing ourselves for failure in solving the problem we have taken up! So we try not to get so attached to the cause, so much so that we develop an attitude of – “No one else should solve this problem but us!”
Our mission to build student leaders who have role models to look up to and are on a path of becoming one is something we would love to solve as a collective. Anyone who sees value in this and wants to contribute towards it is very much welcome! 🙂
About one and half years ago, we conducted a Mentor India program in a school in Bangalore, where Roopa Prabhu, a volunteer joined us through SAP. Since then we’ve been in touch now and then, and seen Roopa’s journey from wanting to contribute to proactively doing whatever she can independently. Currently Roopa, her husband and her sister have taken up a government school near their home in Dollars Colony, Bangalore. They spend their weekends with the students in the school and help in whatever way they can. She reached out to us if there was a curriculum they could use in the school, and we were so happy to share the same with her.
When the intention of a mission ripples out and finds its way back to you, so much more powerful than it started off as, the joy is unparalleled! 🙂 If any of you want to individually/as a group want to take up a school in your neighborhood, we welcome you to get in touch with us and we will serve you at our maximum capacity! 🙂
